Sulfur belched from the gaping sores deep inside the volcanic rocks. The black eyes took in every puff of putrid perfume with a razor sharp smile on his face. Each time the foul stomach of lava belched forth such fumigating fog, he could see the bewildered twins trying to make sense of what had happened to them. By far, this was the most fun he had had in…eons. He had so enjoyed trapping those Madden brothers within time. It would take William ages, literally, to catch up to them. Moreover, by the time that meddlesome messenger found them…well…it would be too late.

The death of their mother has left Benji and Joel with an alcoholic and abusive father. Their home is a run down apartment in Maryland. They never have any clean clothes to wear and hardly enough to eat. Their made to do simple but lengthy chores around the house while their father enjoys a few beers while watching television. They are made to hide their bruises and skinny bodies with baggy pants and sweaters, even during summer. Teachers can't help but question the life style of these two boys, but both Benji and Joel have been brain-washed to satisfy the teacher's and counsel's curiosity with nothing but lies. The torture lasts for years, but everything has to have an ending. What will the conclusion of their story be?
