The mail had been stacking up for days, almost as if the apartment was vacant. And in a way, it was. The only occupant was curled up on the couch, a pile of Kleenex on the floor below him. Several empty cans of alcohol littered the floor and bags of crackers and chips were scattered about. He hadn't cooked in such a long time the pots and pans had long ago collected dust and the empty bottles of vodka had found a place on top of the stove. That's all there was anymore. Alcohol.
